Indian Head Elementary School held an event to celebrate the success of the students in the inaugural year of Prairie Valley School Division’s first Michif prekindergarten program.
The early learning program for 3 and 4-year-olds is designed to preserve the Michif language and provide learning opportunities that honour Métis culture and heritage. This year, 11 students completed the program.
The event was attended by the student’s family members, Métis Nation-Saskatchewan representatives, Prairie Valley Board of Education members, school staff and division staff.
Funding for the program is provided by Métis Nation-Saskatchewan.
