On Monday, April 8 a solar eclipse will occur. In southeast Saskatchewan, including Prairie Valley School Division, it will be a partial, or 41 per cent eclipse. Even with a 41 per cent eclipse, experts are warning anyone viewing the eclipse to wear certified solar viewing glasses to avoid eye damage. The partial solar eclipse will last from 11:51 a.m. until approximately 1:00 p.m. As this will occur over school lunch breaks, students will be asked to stay inside during this time or be reminded not to look directly at the eclipse if they are leaving for lunch.
